Any company doing business with EU citizens must comply with GDPR or face its potential wrath in terms of fines and public opinion.
GDPR fines for violations are steep: up to 20 million euros ($23 million) or 4% of global annual turnover of the preceding fiscal year, whichever is greater. Since its implementation, more than 200,000 cases of non-compliance have been lodged, with large global brands, including British Airways, Marriot International Hotels, Google and Deutsche Wohnen, fined millions.
