SQream Technologies Ltd., the creator of a high-performance database that operates on graphics processing units, has announced raising USD 45 million in new funding.

Based in Tel Aviv, SQream revealed the Series C funding round. World Trade Ventures led the round, including participation from other previous and new sponsors. SQream has raised more than USD 160 million in outside funding since its 2010 inception.

One of their main distinctions is that GPUs have more cores than central processing units. Up to 144 cores will be present in the cutting-edge Sierra Forest server CPUs that Intel Corp. expects to introduce next year. Likewise, the flagship H100 graphics card from Nvidia Corp. has more than 18,000.

Each core functions as a miniature computing module that can perform calculations on its own without relying on the other modules. A graphics card has more cores than a CPU; it can process more calculations simultaneously. SQream has created a database called SQreamDB that uses GPUs’ capacity for many parallel operations to speed up processing.

Companies must transfer their company data from the systems where it is often housed into a consolidated database before they may analyze it for insights. It frequently requires a sizable quantity of time. SQream claims that SQreamDB may cut expenditures by up to 90% while reducing information intake times.

Tools are available in the database that can be used to get newly ingested records ready for analysis. SQream claims that the tools allow for filtering false information and summarizing the remaining data. Additionally, SQreamDB can denormalize, a technique for rearranging a database’s contents to speed up queries.

The software also optimizes other methods of data processing. Because compute and storage are separated, businesses may gradually add storage capacity to a SQreamDB environment without having to deploy much hardware. The database compresses data as an extra precaution to reduce storage requirements.

Standard SQL queries can be used to evaluate data stored in SQreamDB. Customers can also choose to use third-party business intelligence or BI tools to conduct analysis. SQreamDB offers connections with Tableau and a few other well-liked BI tools.

Ami Gal, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “As generative AI shines a light on the importance of leveraging AI and ML within enterprises, as well as the value of GPUs as part of the analytics process, we have seen interest in our technology skyrocket.”

In addition to SQreamDB, the business also sells SQream Blue. It’s a data lakehouse that is concentrated on a smaller number of use cases. The platform is intended to assist businesses in organizing their raw data into a format that makes it simpler to run analytics and train artificial intelligence models.

In 2021, SQream expanded its line of products by acquiring Panoply, a startup, for an estimated USD 60 million to USD 70 million. It acquired an ETL platform, or extract, transform, load, through the deal. It can consolidate data from several systems into one location for analysis.

The most recent USD 45 million in funding will be used by SQream to expand its feature set. The corporation will give the development of new AI capabilities top priority as part of the effort. Additionally, SQream intends to increase its staff in North America and broaden its partner ecosystem.
