NeuroBlade Ltd., a data analytics acceleration startup, announced that Dell Power Edge users would have access to its NeuroBlade SQL Processing Unit.

The partnership, unveiled at the Dell Technologies World 2023 conference in Las Vegas, is said to be the first of its kind to accelerate data analytics, shortening the time it takes to understand data and enhancing query performance on petabyte-sized datasets. According to the sales pitch for the product, users would receive a processor architecture that has been shown to speed up high-throughput data analytics workloads.

A processor designed explicitly for data analytics with consistently high throughput, independent of query complexity, is the NeuroBlade SPU G200 PCI-e acceleration card. When a query is pushed down from the query engine, the SPU immediately analyzes the data files from local storage and sends the results to the query engine in native query engine layouts. The SPU usually supports popular columnar file formats.
