TigerGraph Inc. updated TigerGraph Cloud, its fully managed graph database service, with new features that enable users to extract more insights from their business data and expedite the development of Machine Learning (ML) applications.
The organization is a well-funded database startup that has raised over USD 170 million, with its most recent funding round concluding in February 2021. Major corporations such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Microsoft Corp. are among its clients.
An industry-leading graph database developed by TigerGraph is intended to carry out some tasks more effectively than relational and NoSQL database systems. For instance, databases are frequently required to store both business records and contextual data that describes how those records relate to one another.
For example, it might be necessary to specify the store where each sale occurred in a sales database. Because traditional databases don’t always offer a simple way to determine if two data points are linked, analyzing these connections between records can be challenging. Finding connections between various data points, as a result, calls for a lot of processing power.
With its graph database, which can store both records and the connections between them, TigerGraph comes in handy in this situation. Users can run quick analysis and queries, which helps speed up various applications that need to map connections between data points. Machine learning and cybersecurity are two examples of these applications.
Among the new features introduced in TigerGraph Cloud is TigerGraph Insights, a user-friendly, no-code visual graph analytics tool that can assist users in better exploring these connections and deriving more insightful information from them. Users can develop interactive visual representations of business intelligence applications that use the TigerGraph Cloud, according to TigerGraph.
This technology operates by connecting understandable graph data with conventional BI tools to generate dynamic, multidimensional graphical displays. Then, users may join these graphics together to build tables, charts, and maps that visually represent graph tales. In addition, this may be accomplished without writing code and using a point-and-click, drag-and-drop interface.
ML Workbench, a Python-based framework designed to accelerate the development of graph-based machine learning applications, is also new. It is aimed at data scientists and can help them improve the accuracy of machine learning models, accelerate the delivery of greater business value, and shorten development cycles, according to the company.
This can be accomplished by utilizing familiar tools, workflows, and libraries within a single environment that integrates seamlessly with TigerGraph’s existing data pipelines. Users can then launch high-performance graph feature generation, sampling, and training powered by TigerGraph’s massive parallel graph data compute engine, with access to over 55 open-source graph algorithms, according to the company. The resultant graph features can then be extracted and converted to efficient data formats for downstream neural networks use.
The company has been committed to democratize graph databases and pushing the boundaries of innovation, according to Jay Yu, vice president of product and innovation at TigerGraph. “The addition of visual graph analytics and machine learning tools to our fully managed graph database-as-a-service offering lowers the barrier to graph entry even further. Now, enterprises of all sizes can supercharge their data analytics and machine learning projects at scale with speed, asking and answering critical business questions that move the needle.”
The new features are available in the TigerGraph Cloud 3.8 release through TigerGraph Suite, a single, streamlined web portal that enables frictionless collaboration between graph users, according to TigerGraph. TigerGraph Suite includes all TigerGraph Cloud’s services, such as GraphStudio, GSQL Shell, and GraphQL Gateway and AdminPortal. These are available on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
