Highlights:
- For its proprietary, differentiated 22FDX platform, GF validates Cadence’s digital solution on AWS.
- Cadence’s Cloud portfolio, full digital flow, and Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP complement Cadence’s Intelligent System Design Strategy, allowing SoC design excellence.
Cadence Design Systems, Inc declared GlobalFoundries (GF) to have qualified the Cadence digital solution on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Owing to the qualification of the digital solution on GF’s 22FDX platform, users can attain cloud scalability, efficiency, and productivity and optimal design Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) and faster time to market.
Design teams often need tools to maintain pace with increasing challenges and cater to a wide range of end marketers and applications. Cadence’s integrated digital solution, combined with the power of the cloud, allows customers to address new design issues by delivering a faster path to design closure and greater predictability in fulfilling PPA targets. For instance, Xenergic, a provider of high-performance and ultra-low-power on-chip memory solutions, effectively taped out a low-power memory first-time-right test chip using the Cadence Cloud Passport with the full digital flow and the Cadence Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP on the GF 22FDX platform.
The Genus Synthesis Solution, the Innovus Implementation System, the Quantus Extraction Solution, the Physical Verification System, the Tempus Timing Signoff Solution, the Conformal Smart Logic Equivalence Checker, the Physical Verification System, and the Pegasus Layout Pattern Analyzer are all part of the Cadence digital flow. The extremely configurable design of the Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP delivers exceptional DSP performance – both fixed and floating-point – making it high in efficiency when running the narrowband wireless communications standards usually associated with IoT device connection.
Cadence’s Cloud portfolio, full digital flow, and Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP complement Cadence’s Intelligent System Design Strategy, allowing SoC design excellence.
Experts’ view
“Xenergic’s successful tapeout shows that customers can design with confidence in the cloud using the Cadence digital full flow and the Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP, which are qualified for use on the differentiated GF 22FDX process,” said KT Moore, vice president, Corporate Marketing at Cadence. “Through our collaboration with AWS and GF, we’re enabling customers to leverage the power of the cloud for the creation of next-generation designs that support emerging markets like automotive and IoT.”
Xenergic CEO Dr. Babak Mohammadi said, “The cloud-based RTL-to-GDS flow with Cadence’s Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP enabled us to achieve 5X greater productivity with our test chip tapeout. We were successfully able to scale cloud resources during peak needs, and we look forward to continuing to leverage this solution from Cadence, GF and AWS to accelerate development times with our forthcoming low-power product designs.”
