ESET recently introduced version 6.0 of its Mobile Security Solution (EMS). The update is engineered to safeguard against Android mobile security threats such as malware and phishing. EMS is designed to protect users against data loss, misuse through malware protection, and data leakage. The updated version also offers a safe browsing experience with its anti-phishing features.
Additionally, by connecting to my.eset.com, EMS safeguards users from physical loss and theft by providing real-time information related to the status and whereabouts of the device.
The company mentions that the latest version of the Mobile Security solution adds a new layer of security for EMS users.
Protection offered on financial front
The payment protection feature in Version 6.0 protects users from apps that use sensitive financial information, such as banking transactions and online shopping.
How is it done?
The upgraded version has the functionality to automatically categorize all applications from Google Play Store that belong to the Finance category and scans them for possible threats. Additionally, users can also add other apps of their choice to the list, even if they do not fall under the finance domain.
Once done, a safe launcher icon is associated with the list of apps; from there, apps that contain or deal with sensitive information can be launched and protected against malware or fake apps on a spree to rob sensitive data and credentials by replicating login screens.
Additionally, in case an app is not launched from the safe launcher module, the security solution still runs a basic scan for aspects such as unresolved antivirus issues, root state of the device, and open network usage.
To further authenticate the commitment and precision of ESET toward Android mobile protection, it is important to note that it was awarded the MRG Effitas Certificate in the Android 360 Assessment Programme Q1 2020, by MRG Effitas. MRG Effitas is an expert in independent IT security efficacy testing, research, and expertise.
Considering the current highlights in a report—that states approximately 2.3 billion people across the world use Android and the constant rise in android-based malware— it calls for cent percent protection against threats.
Version 6.0 has been upgraded with design changes focused on enhancing intuitiveness and ease-of-use features, viz., Call Filter feature. The feature enables users to stay safe from unwanted incoming calls and a revamp of the Anti-Theft feature that streamlines onboarding and resetting passwords.
