Vuzix Corporation, a supplier of smart glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology and products, announced that it has inked a definitive agreement with Vuzix Corporation VUZI to deliver an immersive AR experience in sports and gaming arena. Vuzix aims to leverage the power of Verizon’s 5G and edge computing technologies to deliver an AR experience for sports and gaming. This first-of-its-kind offer will sow the seeds for future endeavors related to the commercialization of AR technology in various domains.

With its headquarters in West Henrietta, NY, Vuzix caters to a vast consumer and enterprise market across the globe with a number of products such as AR wearable displays, smart glasses, and computing devices. It holds 243 patents and numerous IP licenses in the Video Eyewear field.

According to Vuzix, the agreement will help in the advancement of technology and focus on other commercialization aspects to deliver immersive AR training experiences to customers, which is powered by Vuzix Shield smart glasses, a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree and a 5G Ultra Wideband service and edge compute platform from Verizon.

The tie-up between Vuzix and Verizon will leverage a proof-of-concept program that was completed earlier this year. The program showcased the power of Verizon’s 5G and edge computing platform to run applications at the edge of the network using Vuzix smart glasses to deliver longer battery life, improve response time, and increase computing capacity.
